Black Beauty

Sometimes, when the weather is nice and not too chilly, I like to take the longer route to get to the office. Most times I will just enjoy the breeze, but on one of the normal days last week, I decided to stop walking and enjoy the scenery that Blackrock has to offer. You know how when you often pass by a familiar place, everything just looks, ordinary and you never give it a second thought?

There was just something serene about the view that I thought, God, the people in the neighbourhood must be a happy lot, waking up to such scenery below.

Taken by a camera phone. So excuse the quality.

While I was minding my own business, appreciating God's work, along came two young men jogging. I hardly see people jog this early when I do use this way, so I gave them a smile and a thumb up. Thank god they smiled back and even managed a wink. So cheeky. I just thought I had to take their picture strutting their stuff. I love friendly strangers.

Not far from where I was standing, I noticed an old man who was busily polishing the brass on his door. I wanted to go nearer but decided that it's not wise as I might disturb his concentration. He was that engrossed with polishing the brass, he must've been a retired soldier when he was younger.

definitely not a KING!

I should learn to appreciate this place. I had the daily email conversation with Diana and Lent last week. I'm so jealous that Dee gets to say that she lives and works in New York. It makes it sound so much cooler than Duhhblin. She was being polite and said "Blackrock sounds historical". Pfft?!

mi being humans we are always ungrateful and thinks that other places are better. Actually we should appreciate the beauty that surrounds us....Dublin has that raw beauty and friendly people which you wont find in big cities like New York!
