Just like that, they'll leave.

Uh hello friends. Just wanted to drop by and say hi and sorry for the lack of updates and any interesting tales. I have been writing in drafts nowadays. After writing about two paragraphs, I tend to question myself if it is even post-worthy?

I don't want to be writing about waking up in the morning(feeling like p.diddy) and then rushing off to work and I'm bored stories. I want to tell you of my yet another city break. About my first Wireless Festival in London. About how talented the The Ting Tings are and how superb Pink was and although I don't know 3/4 of the lyrics, I just made the lyrics up and let myself sway to the music and enjoy myself thoroughly, with no thoughts to the world. And also about how we went to Brighton on Saturday and ate ice-cream till we almost turned green.

That, and all other things in between. Like the time that stranger lady on the train kept reading on the back cover of my book, and I gave her the chance to do so by tilting the book, so she'd think how interesting and intelligent I look. And I took the chance to be urban, and asked her if she wanted to sit next to me on the train. And we started talking. And that's how strangers give you a warm glow. And that's how we know God always let us meet people in the strangest way. Even for what seems likethe shortest time, we allowed ourselves to talk without any inhibitions.

Meeting Lent again after 6 months felt good. It's always good having a friend who has been with you since you first reached puberty and grew up with you. Is it coincidental that we are both in the same continent at the same time in our young adult life? Starting our careers in a town so different from where we come from.

Congrats to Diana, who just got a job back in the States! Hard work pays off babe!Good Luck!

And sometimes I secretly pray that it all not end. That feeling of happiness and joy of being able to be so carefree. Being in a City as huge as London, but having only 2 person knowing your name and sharing your laughter. God, I know this is something I will miss should I return to my motherland one day, where every nook and corner of the street, I would feel judged by my very own people.

And that as much as the television portrays, no one bothers if you are a size 14. No one cares so much that you are carrying a bag from LV that every other lady has. But instead, they will join you when you start singing a song and put on a little rap and some stranger would join in with a human beatbox. And when it’s finally over, and you feel that rush of emotions having the crowds formed around you, giving you your 3 minutes worth of fame, they leave. Just like that, they leave.

True Blue Malaysian

Just like you, I would do the same.

I would speak in full English and then 'selit' a Bahasa word in the sentence. All with a purpose; to find out if you are just like me, a Malaysian living/travelling abroad, usually happy to see another fellow countrymen in a foreign land.

And so two Malaysian girls did exactly what I would do if I saw another Malaysian at the airport. I should have played my part and turn around and say hello but I was too tired from the journey from Ladywell to Gatwick, that I did not say hello.

Chinese Malaysian Girl: "Eh, see see Malaysian passport right?"
Indian Malaysian Girl: "Mana?"
Chinese Malaysian Girl: "Depan ni.Confirm kan?"

I did not turn my head.Shame on myself, but really I was too tired, but I just smiled. I must have looked like  those people who think they are great just because they live abroad and do not mix with other Malaysians.Hehs.Sorry, I'm not usually like that.

I can tell if you are Malaysian by the words you use. No other nationalities would say "Line up " to get their kids to queue up. Only primary school teachers would scream at you to Line Up!!

Also, no other nationalities would question a question with a Right? or state a fact with a What? at the end of the sentence.

" We are going there, right?"  Is it because we think that we are always right? Kiasu sungguh.

"We can go there what." Did you notice that there is no question mark at the end of the sentence? It's because we, Malaysians use What in the sentence above to stress what we are doing ,but with an irritated tone.

And that is how I differentiate a true blue Malaysian from the crowds.

Spot the Malaysian sejati in the above picture. Hint:

a)one thinks Scottish shortbread is the next best thing since slice bread
b)one thinks New York is the best city to live in
c)one cannot live without say Eh! and Lah!
