Remember the poll Reader's Digest held somewhere early this year on the "Rudest Nation in the World" and Malaysia came in third/second place? I can see why, but then again it's unfair to judge based on "Holding out doors for people walking behind you".
I wouldn't say that the Irish is the most polite people in the planet, heck they're not even close to being runner up or second runner up. But, they do hold the doors for you.
I've had a few encounters where I was about 15 seconds slow steps away from the door, and the guy(even in business suits) , while holidng his coffee and a handphone at the ear, was holding the door for me.Nevermind the fact that he was, I think in a hurry for a business meeting. Then, there was the other time, where this guy has gone through the exit door and the door had closed and he turned around and saw me heading for the door. Oh guess what he did? He actually turned back and opened the door for me!. Hah! I felt at once, like someone important a DIVA perhaps (day dreaming again people!).
Being the true blue Malaysian that I am, I have countless of times forgotten about the 'holding the door policy', but I must say, that I'm now adapting to this 'polite gestures'. The next time people, hold the door for the person coming behind you.
I guess they grew up with it, to open doors for people,.Haha. On other helpful things? SO far, I've seen none. The ladies at the market are always cross and antsy. They do not allow us to choose our fruits from the basket, which means to say, they can give you a rotten apple for all they care.That's the price you pay for cheap stuff ei?
