I don't know. I just decided to write an entry about Ramadhan and how it had always been for me and how it had been for the past 21 days.
For the past 22 days, my family and I have been depending on the Pasar Ramadhan, or PARAM as it is now called. (Malaysians, we just love our abbreviations). Anyway, we never really bought meals for break fast prior to this because well...we love our home cooked meals. But this year, since our kitchen is still under renovation, we have no choice but to buy food, or we head to the mosque in Kelana Jaya. It's actually not our local mosque but because my mom is the committee member at the Mosque in KJ, she feels more comfortable there. But, I highly suspect because the food they serve there are just delicious. On a normal day, there are sure to be at least 3 types of dishes. You'll get a chicken , vegetable and prawns dish. I kid you not. I suppose because the mosque is located near a golf club whereby the houses nearby are mostly Bungalows. So I think they donate quite a bit of money!
Haish, let me tell you a secret ok? Since I left home at 17, I have not had the chance to break fast with my family and no chance at going to the Pasar Ramadhan. I yearned for it while I was in Dublin. So now that I'm back, God decided He will punish me by taking my kitchen away. So now, I'm stuck and getting pretty sick of food from there. And now, since it's always just my parents and myself who are at home, and everyone is conscious as to to what goes in their body, we buy just about enough food. Nothing more, nothing less.
Looks quite sad kan. We eat on the floor at the moment. Adat Melayu orang kata. No lah, as I said earlier our kitchen is not ready, and being the RMC trained Dad, he said we will go through some hardships first before we get our nice new kitchen. So that's my knees and my nasi lemak and the nasi kerabu for my parents and the kuih muih that I get from my office for free. Oh by the way, I noticed if you sit on the floor while you eat, you get full faster. I think it's because your stomach gets squished, so you feel like an ular sawa faster than normal.
Aish. It's a complete 360 degree turn from Dublin. In Dublin , my fellow partners in crime, Jaja, Amna and Ana will plan a day ahead what to cook for Iftar. We are quite skillful in the kitchen when in desperation. We made quite a fair bit every Iftar. Murtabak, Ayam Percik, Kuih Seri Muka (tak jadi), Nasi Kerabu, Onde Onde, you name it, we made it. Oh how I miss those times. But such is life. You gain some, you lose some.
And in my case, I gain weight and lose money! Refer picture below.
