When I first joined **C **xia back in March this year, the only position was as a fund accountant. I actually wasn't too keen on the job because it's repetitive but seeing how I have some experience and knowledge in the Fund's industry, I gave it a go, with the hope that I will be able to make a lateral move within the company. And since it is an international company, I have high hopes that they could one day send me abroad again for short assignments. Wishful thinking la basically.
About a week into my training in March, there was an internal advertisement for Fund Reporting analyst. I sent an email to the HR voicing out my interest in joining that department as I do have experience in Reporting. On my final week of training in March they sent me an email to confirmed that I could join the new Reporting team. But I have one major concern and I need some ideas from you guys. When they first hired me, they told me they couldn't pay me my expected salary because although I have experience, it wasn't the exact experience as a Fu.nd Accou.ntant. So now that my 3 years worth of experience is going to be useful again, should they not increase my salary to that of a more experienced employee? And just a little info, this is a new department in the KL office and no one has the experience except for me (although I served the European and Cayman Island markets) and the Australian Business Experts who will be coming in to train us. All I want is a little more pay rise because I'm going in as an experienced employee, so what is the correct way to do this?
Working in an international company has its perks, but mind you, when they are still run by the local,s things can still get messed up pretty badly. I am currently on another training under the Reporting team. There are altogether 25 of us. They hired 20 new supposedly fu.nd acc.ountants, and these kids were all interviewed for the said position, promised shift allowance of up to RM500 due to the nature of the job. However, after signing their contracts and all the shiznits, they came to the training room and got a shock of their life when they were told they are going to be a Reporting Analyst instead. It was such a huge mistake done by both the Managers and the Head of HR that we had a meeting with all the new trainees and the Manager. Obviously the big ones tried to save their asses and twisted in a such a way and told these kids that it's the same thing and part of a job of a FA, is to also analyze reports. Yeah only if you are in a small company yes.
Anyway I should probably stop now before it gets too ganas.
Here's a picture of the trainees in my team in March and our French trainer.
They were all really nice bunch of people and we get along pretty well.
And this is how they see me.

Isn't that a huge screwup? Obviously the nature of the work of an analyst and a reporter would be different!
