This super sore throat.

Out of all the people, it was me who got sick.

My voice disappears after a few words and then they laugh at me for sounding like a 'nyah'. I don't have a cold, and neither do I have fever, it is just a really bad case of a really sore and painful throat. If I was in Malaysia, everyone will say that it is because "It's heaty. " (Just googled, there's no such word as heaty!)

So while I was talking to my mom this morning, she told me to drink Air Asam Jawa (Tamarind juice) to ease my scratchy throat. Biasalah, orang-orang Melayu/ Malaysians always have their own remedies, which I bet, would make the Irish uneasy if asked to try.Hehe.

As I'm typing this, I'm trying to remember the other remedies, the tried and tested ones, either my Ibu or Tok invented, or I don't know, maybe all grandmothers do go to the same school. How else, can all Grandmothers know the same thing right? Oh yes, Bawang Merah, or Shallots, can be used to cure fever. You pounce the shallots until it becomes soft, and then put it on the head. Yes, shallots, u know the smell of it right? Imagine putting it on your head! The shallot is suppose to "suck" the heat away...

My maid told me once, and I think she probably still does it, that you should use the water used in washing the rice grains, to wash your face. I don't know where the nutritious part comes from, but she insists that you should wash your face with it. I actually tried it like a couple of times, but those who knows me, can agree that it does not work for my skin!

The worst one would be the tumeric (kunyit) and salt concoction my grandmother tried to make me drink when I first had period. She said that I should drink it in order to regulate my cycle. Whaaa?? I cried and wailed like a baby when she tried to shove it down my throat. It tasted horrible. hmm...tapi ayam goreng kunyit sedap je? I wonder why...

I did not finish it, and it obviously ended up in the sink. The whole bathroom turned yellow and I almost turned green. And up until now, my period is irregular. Siapa suruh kau tidak mendengar nasihat orang tua???
