Click to enlarge my CNY greeting card for you guys!

I would like to wish all the Chinese people out there a prosperous (pronounced prospres (ala Phua Chu Kang) Chinese New Year. It's the year of the rat, and according to the feng shui master,The Rat year is a year of plenty, bringing opportunity and good prospects. It will be marked by speculation and fluctuations in the prices of commodities and the stock market; the world economy in general will boom. Business will be on the upswing, fortunes can be made and it will be an easy time to accumulate wealth.. ...
One word;auspicious horrrr..ehh correct laaa, in chinese slang, people say horrr at the back wan, and is considered a word.
Anyway, I know my closest Chinese friends are celebrating their CNY far away from home. Diana is in Tokyo with host family whereas Lent is peeling mandarin oranges with her omputeh boyfriend. And Alice, might be swimming with dolphins in Australia. Way to go girls!
In case you are wondering, why I'm excited about CNY? First and foremost, not many people know this, but my forefathers hailed from China back in the 1900. So it is in my teeny wee bit DNA, that I have like 1/8th Chinese in me.
And If I remember correctly, I received my biggest ang pow when I was 10 years old. It was RM1000, from my dad's Tokei Ayam friend. Hell, I was too naive to have shared it with my siblings.( i had believed in prosperity in early age). The following years were rather empty, but my friends' mothers never fail to give me ang pow every year. Heck even Aunty Penny the hairdresser gives me RM2!! Those sure felt like eons ago.
Then there'd be the ad for Prosperity Burger and it's the only time that McDonalds sells curly fries and prosperity burgers.Aish, I miss those.
Oh,ooh, and how can I forget the lokam and the joke that my late grandmother used to make. She used to ask this question every time she peels oranges sapa nak pegi China??, whoever excitedly answers with a nod will get a squeeze from the juices of the orange. The joke was meant to make you squint your eyes, so it becomes slit as a Chinese's eyes.-_-
I guess that's enough of Chinese New Year wishes for everyone. Gong Xi Fa Cai.

PS/ Dad- Wo der melon, ho ho sum
PS/Lent- Wo de papa induren, wo de mama si, malayrian,

Thanks for your CNY text, Mimsy. Much appreciated. CNY was horrid for me. Woke up yesterday to the sound of my alarm instead of fireworks :( Had a cold sandwich for lunch instead of a 10 course CNY feast. The only angpau I got was from the ATM (sans red packet + money out of my own pocket somemore). Anyways, it's all good. Miss ya! By the way, I had Clementine instead of mandarin oranges. That's CNY in London for you. Cheers!
